Running

Friday, August 27, 2010 by Mike Beer
This has been a week of running.  My daughter's first cross country meet of the year was last Saturday.  My son's first cross country meet ever was Wednesday.  And I ran nearly 10 miles this week.

What else has been running this week?  Bradford-Scott.  Even though we've had 6-10 service reps in Sage Intergy training all week, we've kept support running on all cylinders, including:

  • Full phone support staff supporting over 200 Intergy, MENDS, and Navigator customers
  • Training staff visiting a pediatrics Intergy customer for a review
  • Update to Intergy v6.0 for one of our largest Intergy medical software Kentucky clients
  • Electronic health records upgrade for a Pediatrics EMR customer
No rest for the wicked.  Bradford-Scott is running to service our customers all the time, and so am I.  Now excuse me as I run off to happy hour!

Cheers,
Mike

Interface with CHIRP

Friday, July 16, 2010 by Tim Trissel

Customer comments from a large Pediatric Office having an interface from the Bradford Scott Data Computer system. Chirp is great! We can check out kids immunization records.  We consistently get patients that do not know or keep a list with them of their immunizations so we look them up on CHIRP to find them. Immunizations that our office performs are updated to the CHIRP data base and this helps other Doctors in the area to check on the patient's records, preventing duplicate or missing immunizations the children need.

If you are a physician who can benefit from a Practice Management System / EHR system that will interface with CHIRP, then checkout Bradford Scott Data Corporation located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

We handle the sale, installation, training and support for EHR and Practice Management systems interfacing with CHIRP.

Service is our highest quality with a 2009 customer rating of 9.52 out of possible 10.

Conversion x3

Friday, June 11, 2010 by Mike Beer
So I'm running the conversion for a long-time customer that just picked up our pediatrics EMR package along with Intergy by Sage.  And I'm doing it for the 3rd time.  Why?  Well, I saw a few procedure codes that came across incorrectly.  And while I could have let it go, it is more important to convert accurate data than it is to finish early.  On a sunny Friday afternoon.

No worries, doing the re-export gives me more time to write a blog entry!  That way I can talk about Intergy by Sage and Sage Intergy EHR.  We've already converted more current and new customers to these packages this year than all of last year.  And these products will help our customers qualify for CMS incentive payments by complying with the ARRA rules.

Want to qualify for Medicare incentives or Medicaid incentives?  You can find out more by browsing the Bradford-Scott website for information, or by checking out the fact sheet for Intergy by Sage.  If you have questions about conversions, reply to me by leaving a comment.

Cheers,
Mike

Mother's Day

Friday, May 7, 2010 by Mike Beer
Sunday is Mother's Day.  It's a good time to celebrate our mothers that were / are always there for us.  We're headed up to Fort Wayne for the weekend where we'll be lucky enough to see both of our mothers and both of our grandmothers.

Before I leave for the weekend, I've got a few Intergy data conversions to wrap up.  One is for an long-time client who has been with us for several years.  They have made the jump to Intergy by Sage and will hopefully soon be using the Pediatrics EMR system.  In the past month we've converted another pediatrics EMR customer and a primary care EMR customer to Intergy by Sage.  Next week I begin a big conversion for a neurological group that is joining the Bradford-Scott family as first-time Intergy users.  The fun never stops!

I hope you'll take some time this weekend to thank your mother or any important mother in your life.

Cheers, Mom.

Sage Intergy PM helps local pediatric office

Tuesday, May 4, 2010 by Monica Milner

I recently visited one of my clients, Indianapolis Independent Pediatricians, P.C.  It was their first day using their new practice management solution, Sage Intergy PM

When I asked Suzanne how things were going, her exact words were "Intergy has already helped me today!"  I asked her what she meant.  She had just retrieved a voice mail message from one of their patients' parents.  She said she wasn't able to understand the parent's name or the child's name.  However, they clearly stated the callback phone number.

Since you can search for a patient by phone number in Sage Intergy Practice Management, Suzanne was able to quickly determine who she needed to call and promptly call them back.

Please contact Bradford Scott Data Corporation today to learn how Sage Intergy can help your office.

EHR for your specialty practice

Friday, February 26, 2010 by Jon Jacobs

The guiding principle in selecting the right Electronic Health Record (EHR) for your practice is simple.  In order for an EHR to work, physicians and clinicians should be able to use the technology in a way that enhances their workflow rather than impedes it.

Sage Intergy EHR enables you to leverage clinical information by providing you with a customizable system that adapts to existing workflows rather than forcing you to change how you work. Plus, special enhancements for primary care, as well as both surgical and non-surgical specialties, mean Sage Intergy EHR easily adapts to the needs of any size or type of practice.

With over 50 years of combined experience in the healthcare market, Sage and its Channel Partner Bradford-Scott Data Corporation understand that the needs of a Gastroenterology practice can vary greatly from those required by an OB/GYN group. When it comes to choosing an electronic health records (EHR) system, it's important to consider how that technology will work for your practice, whatever the specialty.  Sage Intergy EHR was built to accommodate those unique needs, so you can be sure the system works, thinks and moves the way you do.

Sage Intergy EHR has built-in features for the following types of specialty practices:

  • Cardiology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Nephrology
  • Neurology
  • Obstetrics/Gynecology
  • Orthopedics
  • Pediatrics
  • Primary Care
  • Radiology
  • Urology

Missing your security blanket with EMR?

Friday, February 19, 2010 by Kathy Reinhardt
Missing your security blanket with EMR?

Let's face it, most physicians are not ready to commit to an electronic medical record system (EMR).

A big portion of this unrest is due to change.  As a physician you have probably been documenting your charts and following almost the same office flow since you left medical school.  Any changes in the office have not really impacted how you actually practice medicine.

It's time to face your fears and our Intergy software can help you make this transition.

SAGE Intergy EHR V5.5 is CCHIT 2008 certified and has templates for specialties like cardiology, orthopedics, OB/GYN as well as family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine and others.  These templates can be easily customized to fit your workflow.

Another distinct advantage of Intergy is the Medcin database.  The system will recommend and E & M coding value utilizing the Medcin findings selected in your encounter.  Many physicians find that they have been under coding and that leads to better reimbursement - as well as security in the event of an audit.

Besides the efficiencies you will gain using an EMR, there is also stimulus money available for providers who meet the criteria - icing on the cake!

Contact Bradford-Scott Data Corporation and let our medical consultant team give you the confidence to make a change.

Soda risks

Thursday, February 11, 2010 by Mike Beer
I was reading some health-related articles today and found one that hit really hit me.  A University of Minnesota study has found that drinking as little as two sodas a week can double the risk of pancreatic cancer.  The study showed that the when soda, which has high levels of sugar, is consumed, the pancreas has to work harder to release insulin to balance the body's blood sugar.

The data was compiled by studying 60,000 patients in Singapore.  It would be much easier to compile this type of data now that electronic health records are more prevalent.  A doctor with a primary care EMR system would be able to ask about soda usage from their patients and would be able to track that over a long time span.  A pediatrics EMR system would also track from when the patients were children.

Bradford-Scott Data Corporation offers a CCHIT certified product, Intergy EHR by Sage v5.5.  In addition to tracking data like I mentioned above, it can provide you with lab interfaces, electronic prescriptions, and many more features.  Click the link above to learn more about it, or reply to this post for more information.

Obama's Health Plan

Wednesday, February 10, 2010 by Mike Beer
The headlines look familiar.  But it may not be what you think.  This week, Michelle Obama rolled out her new health care plan:  a fight against childhood obesity.  Studies show that one in three children are overweight or obese and the percentage of overweight children has tripled since 1970!  Some highlights that the administration hopes to accomplish are:
  • Make nutritional information on food labels easier to understand
  • Reforming the school lunch system to include more fruits and vegetables and less desserts
  • With help from the American Academy of Pediatrics, stress to Pediatricians that more emphasis be put on BMI (Body Mass Index) measurement

Electronic Medical Record Systems provide a good way to measure a child's BMI and weight-control progress.  Bradford-Scott Data Corporation offers Intergy EHR by Sage, a Pediatrics EMR system that can help us curb this childhood obesity problem we face.  Things can improve if we work together.  Let's Move!

Mike

Sick

Friday, February 5, 2010 by Mike Beer

So today and yesterday I took my first sick days in probably 10 years.  I don't get sick!  But my whole family had the flu and I got a touch of it too.  Still working today from home but I wanted to make sure I didn't get my coworkers sick for the Super Bowl.

Bradford-Scott Data Corporation supplies the medical office billing software for both our family doctor and our pediatrician.  It's comforting to know that they have a good medical billing system so our claims will be filed quickly and accurately.  Plus, the Pediatrics EMR and the Primary Care EMR features offered by Intergy EHR by Sage are second to none.

If your office is looking for the best physician medical billing or electronic medical records system available, look no further than Bradford-Scott.  Contact us via this blog or at 317-713-2065 and ask for medical sales.

Last but not least:  GO COLTS!!

EBAY and EHR, What's Next?

Friday, January 8, 2010 by Carey Fulwider

I love Ebay. I am an Ebay junkie. When I decide that I need something I will shop on Ebay to easily access millions of items in seconds. I love having all of those items in one location at the click of a mouse in one location. Ebay has done so much to make shopping easier. It is very similar to what Electronic Medical Records has done for the Medical Software world.

Electronic Medical records have taken all the information that Cardiology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Family Practice,  and any other medical office would need and put them all into one Medical software System accessible by a click of your mouse. Much as Ebay makes the life of a shopper easier, imagine what your medical office could do with an Electronic Medical Records System.

Now there are many other websites available for shopping online and you always want to choose the one with the best support. The same as you do when you are choosing a medical software vendor. Bradford-Scott Data Corp has been in the Medical Software business for 25 years and our support is ranked at a 9.5 by our clients. So when you are looking for a new EHR system, shop at Bradford-Scott.

Save Time with Electronic Medical Records

Thursday, January 7, 2010 by Kathy Reinhardt
Indianapolis is in the middle of our first big winter storm and the drive into work was nothing but start, stop, and slide.  For most of the people at Bradford-Scott Data Corporation, it took about 2 or 3 times their normal drive-in time.

That made me think of the differences between paper charting and electronic medical records.  Paper charting, messages, and the hunt for the missing chart all add up to more time and more cost to you as the physician.

Make the change to Electronic Medical Records (EMR) with Intergy by SAGE and watch the changes unfold in your practice:
  • Charts are available in seconds
  • Flowsheets show trends
  • Patient health reminders
  • Tasking messages, results and sign-offs can all be done with a few simple clicks and are documented for the patient chart
  • Electronic prescriptions
Suddenly, your office is becoming more efficient, patient care and follow-up is improved and your reimbursement level is increasing as all findings, treatment plans are documented and checked for coding levels in the Medcin database.

Not only is Sage Intergy EHR V5.5 is CCHIT 2008 certified, templates are available for over 25 specialties that can also be customized for your workflow - including Cardiology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, OB-GYN as well as Family Practice.

As a Channel Partner for SAGE, we offer Intergy EMR, Intergy Practice Management along with Enterprise medical software capability and Practice Analytic software.  Give Bradford-Scott Data Corporation a call and let our medical consulting staff get you started!

New Year's Resolution - Implement EMR!

Wednesday, December 30, 2009 by Kathy Reinhardt
New Year's Eve is almost here, so it's time to party!   After the parties, it's time to make New Year's resolutions (you know, the usual  list that somehow stays the same next year).

This year, make a difference!  Make implementing an electronic medical record software package(EMR) number 1!

Now is the best possible time to make a change-
  • Implementing EMR in 2010 will put you on the inside track with the ARRA stimulus package.  Money is available on a per physician basis for implementing meaningful use of an EMR software.  The grant money will be distributed over a 5 year period, but early adopters in 2010 can qualify for a higher return the first year.

  • Yes, there is an initial learning curve, but once you take the plunge, you will notice increased efficiency, better reimbursement due to correct coding/documentation of your notes, improved patient care and instant access of charts.

Contact Bradford-Scott Data Corporation  and let our medical consultants show you how Intergy EMR by SAGE can make a difference in your office.  Sage Intergy EHR V5.5 is CCHIT 2008 certified and has over 25 specialty templates including cardiology, pediatrics, and orthopedics, just to mention a few,  that can be customized for your workflow.  Let our trainers help you maximize your workflow electronically and start the new year right!

Big Game

Thursday, November 12, 2009 by Mike Beer
Sunday night I'll be going downtown for the game of the year.  The Colts are playing their hated rival New England.  Since the beginning of the 2003 season these two teams have been the best two in football -- each with an 83-21 record over 5 1/2 regular seasons.  The best football game I've ever seen live was the AFC Championship game in 2007 when the Colts overcame a 21-3 deficit to beat the evil Patriots and move on to win the Superbowl.  Great weather plus a nationally-televised game should add up to a great night.

There's another big game going on right now.  If you're in the medical industry things are changing quickly.  EMR systems are becoming more prevalent.  There's a stimulus bill that provides financial compensation for offices that implement an electronic medical record system.  The government is debating and voting on nationalized health care.  This industry is big and the stakes are only getting bigger!

Bradford-Scott Data Corporation can help you win this big game.  Whether you're in the market for a medical billing system or an electronic medical records system, we can guide you through the process.  With features like electronic prescriptions and specific EHR setups for Orthopedics EMR, Cardiology EMR, Pediatrics EMR, OB GYN EMR, Primary Care EMR and many others, we'll be your teammate throughout the entire process.  Give us a ring at 317-713-2065 or check out our website for more information.

Go Colts!

Friday, October 23, 2009 by Jeremy Weaver

The Sage Summit 2009 is taking place in a few weeks in Atlanta.  All Sage customers can attend for a fee.  The Summit will have workshops to learn about software tips, new product development including new technologies and provide technical solutions.

On the healthcare side there will be information about Intergy EHR and Intergy Practice Management (along with many other products).  After looking though the agenda this will be a great place to learn about getting the best out of your Medical Charting Software or your Electronic Medical Record system.

They also plan on having technical support sessions where you can schedule time to sit down with a Sage Support Technician and work on a wide range of topics including your specific issues from Pediatrics EMR to something related only to Orthopedics.

It looks to be a great and valuable time.  If you'd like more information click here or go out and Google 'Sage Summit'.

EMR/EHR benefits

Thursday, October 22, 2009 by Mike Beer

I keep harping on the fact that employing electronic medical records software is the best way to move your practice into present-day technology.  What exactly can EMR systems do for you?  Here are some highlights:

  • Electronic Prescriptions
  • Drug Interaction checks and prescription history
  • Imaging of all paper forms as well as X-rays, ultrasounds, etc.
  • Specific templates for OB GYN EMR, Cardiology EMR, Orthopedics EMR, Pediatrics EMR, Primary Care EMR and many others
  • Can interface with medical claims software and hospital information systems
  • Send requests and receive results from labs electronically

Bradford-Scott Data Corporation
offers a CCHIT certified, top of the line EHR system, Intergy EHR by Sage version 5.5.  It ranks highly in national EMR reviews and will help your office comply with the government's requirements that award stimulus money and assure full payment from Medicare and Medicaid.  Check out our fact sheet that details several of the benefits and features of Intergy EHR by Sage.  Please contact us at our website or via this blog for more information.

Turning Leaves and the Flu

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 by Dwight Baxter
The leaves are beginning to turn here in Indianapolis. The sun is bright today. A few of the maples look as if they are on fire with bright orange, red and yellow leaves. Apple cider and carmel apples are great fall treats available at many orchards and stores. It is a good time of year to be healthy. The flu has other ideas. I go to many medical offices to service their computers and I fear being exposed before I can get a flu shot or two.
I work for Bradford-Scott Data Corp. The offices we service that practice general medicine and pediatrics are packed right now with flu patients. The increased volume of patients makes those offices mad houses. In our offices that don't have EHR I see the staff rush to find charts, rush to copy insurance cards, and rush to check insurance coverage. I wish they all had our latest EHR product, Intergy. The staff could sit at their desks and bring up patients records. They could check coverage and scan in insurance cards right at their pcs. It would make flu season a lot easier for all medical offices. Electronics Health Records is the current and future technology to can make your office work fast and smart.
Contact us on the web at www.bradfordscott.com or call 317-713-2065 for information about our EHR products.
